Collector Md Imtiaz to receive Poshan Abhiyan Award today
Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Md Imtiaz has been selected for the prestigious National Poshan Abhiyan Award by the Union government. The Collector will receive the award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on August 23.
The collector has been selected for the award for the best implementation of the National Nutrition Programme in the district. The Union government announced this award to Krishna district for conducting convergence action meetings at 26 places, organising 100 per cent nutrition awareness programmes among the public, conducting 100 per cent community-based events in the district. The Union government had taken into consideration conduct of 100 per cent immunisation programmes in the district.
According to the district officials, the percentage of the anaemia has been decreased to 0.5 per cent from 5.04 per cent and also the low weight babies were limited to 5.047 per cent in the district. Adding to this, the 100 per cent gas connections in the Anganwadi centres, construction of toilets, drinking water facility arrangements and developing 249 Nutri gardens in the district have contributed to bag the National Poshan Abhiyan Award.
To receive the award, ICDS Project Director, K Krishna Kumari, former DM&HO Dr I Ramesh, ICDS expansion officer N Sunitha Devi accompanied the Collector Imtiaz to Delhi.
