Delhi Police Arrest Suspended AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain
New Delhi: Delhi police arrested former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain accused in the kidnap and murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer, Ankit Sharma in the violence which took place in North East Delhi on February 23, 24 and 25. Tahir Hussain is accused of being involved in arson rioting which took place in the Khajuri Khas area of Karawal Nagar in North East Delhi.
Earlier, The Rouse Avenue Court rejected Tahir Hussain's surrender plea.
Tahir Hussain stands accused in the murder of IB staffer Ankit Sharma. Delhi police filed an FIR on the basis of a complaint lodged by Ankit Sharma's father, Ravinder Kumar in which he accused the AAP corporator of kidnap and murder of his son. The father of the slain IB official accused Tahir Hussain's men of dragging his son into the AAP corporator's house and murdering him.
TV channels aired visuals of Tahir Hussain's house which was a warehouse of deadly weapons including petrol bombs, stones, bricks, slingshots to hurl these objects to a distance, and acid packets, among other things.
Earlier in the afternoon, Tahir Hussain said that he wishes to surrender to the court. He claimed innocence and also said that he believed he had full faith in the judiciary. Tahir Hussain claimed that police had taken him away on the 24th and that he was not present in his house after 11 AM on that day. However, Delhi Police denied his version.
