Efforts are on to develop Agency areas on all fronts and setting up of a medical college and a hospital in the region is a step towards this direction, Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Alla Nani) said on Wednesday.

After conducting a review meeting at Paderu with officials from various departments, Alla Nani said steps were afoot to reach out to tribals in various regions through a slew of development activities as Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's keen on uplifting the poor.

For decades, the tribals have been denied access to healthcare but, the Health Minister said, it won't be the case any longer. "Health sector has been neglected for the past several years. Inaccessible to timely healthcare had claimed lives of the inhabitants in Agency areas. A medical college and a hospital will come up at Paderu and the place has been earmarked for it," the Minister stated.

About 35-acre of site has been identified for the proposed facility at Paderu, the Health Minister added. Alla Nani was accompanied by Minister M.Srinivasa Rao, MLAs and officials.
