New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday, took up the hearing of the petition filed by BJP leaders demanding a floor test in the MP assembly, as also a plea by the rebel MLAs of the Congress urging the Speaker of the MP assembly to accept their resignations. The Bench said that it had to allay fears expressed by the other party that the MLAs were kept captive.

While the apex court was hearing the case, Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and DK Shiva Kumar held a media meet in Bengaluru on Wednesday afternoon. Addressing the media Digvijay Singh remarked that the hotel was a public place and he should be allowed to meet anyone he wanted to meet. As a Rajya Sabha candidate, he wanted to meet his candidates who were duly elected MLAs of the Congress party, Digvijay Singh said.

Digvijay Singh remarked that the Congress won the 2018 elections and formed the government in Madhya Pradesh. The 15 year rule of BJP was a saga of corruption with contracts and Vyapam scandal and many other corrupt activities coming to the fore, he said.

Digvijay Singh observed that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath was tightening the screws on many of the corrupt BJP politicians, as also the land, adulteration and mining mafias which was unpalatable to the BJP leadership. The senior Congress leader said that it is unfortunate that Bengaluru was turning into an epicentre of horse-trading. Digvijay Singh alleged that huge sums of money were being distributed and Congress MLAs wooed by the BJP. The senior Congress leader said that though the BJP says that it is an internal matter of the Congress, it is clear as to who is paying for the chartered flights and keeping them in hotels.

Referring to Jyotiraditya Scindia, Digvijay Singh said that he had a successful political career in the Congress. He expressed his disappointment over Scindia's crossing over to the BJP. Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar condemned the detention of Digvijay Singh by the police and pointed out that he was a respectable man who was being treated in this high handed manner.
