Unemployed engineers to be given one-year internship in local bodies

The Central government has proposed to start a programme under which unemployed engineers are provided with a one-year internship in urban or local bodies in the state, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Union Budget 2020.

The minister said that science and technology students are being given the opportunity to improve their employment opportunities. Local bodies across the country will be providing internship to the fresh engineers.

"Local bodies that carry out various developmental works always lack manpower. Due to the new initiative, the engineers can learn a lot as well as help out at the local bodies," she said adding that the internship programme will help the students to get better opportunities later.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget today at 11 am.
