Will demand action against erring JNU students: BJP MP
New Delhi, BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri has said he will raise in Parliament the issue of the protesting JNU students' violence and why no action is being taken against the erring students.
He questioned that 'Tukde Tukde' gang is active in the university and has support of leaders like Rahul Gandhi. Bidhuri said that he will talk to the DCP concerned on the alleged attack on the media.
JNU students' agitation is on against the fee hike by the university authorities. Demanding a complete rollback of the hostel fee hike, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) on Monday carried out a march to Parliament, as the winter session begins.
As hundreds of students tried to march, barricades were put up by Delhi Police with a massive deployment of personnel around the JNU campus. Section 144 was imposed and prohibitory orders were also put in place.
With posters and chanting anti-fee hike slogans, hundreds of students marched on the streets of the national capital. This even as the Education Secretary earlier addressed their concern by a partial rollback and on Monday announced a new committee which will open a dialogue with the students.
JNU has been rocked with protests and alleged vandalism by students, with graffiti painted on the Vice Chancellor's office and the Dean held hostage.
