PACE students make eco-friendly distilled water

Ongole: The students from PACE Institute of Technology and Sciences in Ongole prepared distilled water by building up a pyramid solar still as part of their final year project funded by the college. 

The college secretary and correspondent, Maddisetty Sridhar said that the final year mechanical engineering students, R Gopi, A Narendranath, T Sumanth and D Sateesh constructed a Pyramid Solar Still, used in the preparation of distilled water, under the guidance of professors Dr Sukumar Puhan, Jyothi Prakash Bol and Madhava Selvan. 

He explained that the distilled water prepared in the still with salt water that could be used in batteries and industrial needs was cost effective and pollution free. He said that the students made the solar still with a capacity of just 3 liters per square meter a day. He announced that the college management funded 100 percent of the project and is now planning to upgrade it to a capacity of 30 to 40 liters per day. Sridhar asked the students to take up projects that are with ideas that are creative and aid in the development of the society.
