Spread green cover: civic chief

Guntur: Municipal Corporation Commissioner Challa Anuradha stressed on the need to plant saplings to develop greenery in the city and to keep pollution in check.

She explained how plants would protect environment and urged the people to protect saplings and become partners in developing greenery. She planted saplings at a programme organised by Bhuvanachandra Paryavarana Parirakshana Samithi at Arundalpet here on Wednesday.

Speaking on this occasion, she said that steps were taken by the GMC to develop greenery in the city. “The GMC would develop parks in the city,” she added. 

Bhuvanachandra Paryavarana Samithi president Eedara Ratna Rao urged the authorities to develop a park in Arundalpet for recreation and requested the Commissioner to develop the park. He requested tree guards to protect saplings planted on the roadside. GMC officials were present at the meeting.
