Children from Indira Satya Nagar join agitation
Rajamahendravaram: Hundreds of children from Indira Satya Nagar Colony demanded that the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) retain their houses intact. They have been residing in the houses from the time of their forefathers, they said.
Participating in a dharna held in front of RMC office here on Friday, they said the residents of the colony had been on relay hunger strike for 40 days and the corporation was not responding positively.
They alleged that the corporation was trying to demolish their houses by throwing them from Indira Satya Nagar Colony without a proper reason. Their children demanded that the government interfere and retain their houses.
BC Women Welfare Association secretary K Harika, city Congress president NV Srinivas, Kula Nirmulama Samithi president Sivaji and parents of children participated in the protest programme. However, the corporation officials did not allow the children to meet the Commissioner.
