RMC makes fertiliser from domestic waste

Rajamahendravaram: The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) is initiating steps to manufacture organic fertiliser from domestic waste. The average garbage production per day in the city is 165 metric tonnes. Along with it, the corporation also planned to supply the organic fertiliser with nutritious qualities to farmers, after recycling it for cheaper price.

According to the RMC Commissioner, V Vijayarama Raju the corporation separates 29 metric tonnes of garbage from 165 metric tonnes and supplies the same to vermi compost yards. Later, it would be made into pieces through pulverised machine bed and mix the same on organic beds.

As part of it, the corporation arranged vermi compost units at Narayanapuram park and water tank at GAIL office in 1st division, at MSR Nagar and Cherukuri Nagar in the 46th division, VAMBAY Colony in the 16th division, Swarajya Nagar in 19th division and Gadalamma Nagar in the 10th division.

The Commissioner said that the manure would be supplied to nearby nurseries and also to farmers. This initiative helped to maintain cleanliness in the city, he added.
