Slums covered under Pulse Polio: Mayor
Eluru: MLA Badeti Kota Rama Rao and Mayor Sheikh Noorjahan administered polio drops to the children at the Pulse Polio centre opened by Medical and Health Department at Amudala Appalaswamy Colony here on Sunday.
The MLA called upon the people to administer the drops to the children below five years of age to save them from polio. The Mayor said that the Municipal Corporation made elaborate arrangements at the Chief Minister Urban Health Centres and Government hospitals to administer the polio drops. “The high risk groups mainly concentrated in the slums and nonmedical tribal areas in the city were covered,” she said. The municipal administration has taken all necessary steps to reach those areas to administer the drops.
Deputy Mayor Naidu Pothuraju, former Deputy Mayor Gudiwada Ramachandra Kishore, Corporator Ragata Nukaratnam, DMHO B Subrahmanyeswari, Additional DMHO Ratnakumari, Municipal Commissioner Mohan Rao, Medical Officer Dr Balaji, Municipal health officer V Surya Rao were seen at the programme.
