Bandh a success in city
Rajamahendravaram: The all party bandh was a success in the city on Thursday. It was organised without any incidents. The bandh was aimed at mounting pressure on the Union government to fulfill the assurances given under the AP Bifurcation Act and also against to the budget tabled without giving funds to the state.
All government and private educational institutions, business establishments, cinemas, banks, offices etc were closed and expressed solidarity to the agitating parties. APSRTC also stalled all its buses from its nine depots in the district. A Virraju, Medapati Sharmila Reddy, the Congress leaders NV Srinivas, D Venkat Rao, Jana Sena Party (JSP) leaders Srinivas, TDP leaders Adireddy Appa Rao, Adireddy Appa Rao, YVG Naidu along with the members of their other wings, student unions etc participated in the bandh.
As part of the protest programme, the parties organised rallies, wearing black badges, from Kotipalli bus station to Fortgate demanding the Central government to fulfill the assurances of AP Bifurcation Act and allot funds to the state. Meanwhile, the police made heavy bundobust at RTC bus station and other vulnerable points in the city. Urban Superintendent of Police B Raja Kumari and Deputy Superintendents of Police supervised the arrangements for the Bandh.
