Contract, outsourcing staff stage dharna

Vijayawada: The contract and outsourcing employees working in various schools in the state demanded that the government solve their problems. In this regard, a dharna was held at here on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, MLC Boddu Nageswara Rao wanted the government to solve the problems of 5,000 contract and outsourcing employees working in Government, Zilla Parishad and upper primary schools in the state. He alleged that they were paid very less salary which was not sufficient for maintaining their families.

Part time and contract Instructors Federation general secretary Ch Devendra Rao said the government had stopped recruiting art, craft and PET employees for 30 years. In 2012, about 5,000 employees were recruited for art, craft and PET posts as contract and part time employees. Initially the government paid Rs 4,500 per month and later the pay was increased to Rs 6,000 per month. In August 2017, the government decided to increase the pay to Rs 20,750 per month. 

After 15 days, the government had said it would pay Rs 12,000 per month as there was budget problem. Recently, the government decided to provide EPF and ESI facility only to outsourcing employees and not for contract employees. Leaders from various districts and hundreds of members of Art and Craft federation were present.
