Kanigiri: Syamala Kasireddy Talent Test, named after the philanthropist from Vedullacheruvu village in Veligandla mandal, was conducted successfully for the eighth year on Sunday at Kanigiri.

The highest scorers in the talent test were given scholarships and the best performers received consolation prizes.

Syamala Kasireddy, who is a well-known humanitarian locally, is from a poor family and remote village which didn’t have basic infrastructure. After settling in life with a lot of struggles, he wanted to give back to society which molded him as a successful human being. He started donating for various activities including drinking water supply, bore well digging, free meal programme at temples etc and started to support poor but talented students to continue education after schooling.

He has been conducting the talent test in Kanigiri and surrounding areas for the last seven years and the eighth test was conducted on Sunday at the Zilla Parishad High School and Government High School for nearly 2000 students of Class X.

Kasireddy said that he felt it was his duty to support the talented children and help them join in the college. Apart from donating notebooks, pads, pens, plates and other items required for the students regularly, he said that he wanted to show them a way that there were many good hearts out in society and continuing education was not a big task for the dedicated students. He promised to continue the talent tests and handholding the students in future.
