Dr Gudavalli donates `1 lakh for new transfusion centre

##BIG-IMAGE#Eluru: Dr Gudavalli Harinath, Superintendent of Blood Bank, Tanuku donated Rs 1 lakh for the construction of transfusion centre that taken up exclusively for the Thalassemia patients in Eluru.

He met District Collector K Bhaskar at his chamber on Wednesday here and handed over the cheque for the amount to him. The Collector, while congratulating Dr Harinath for the donation said that the transfusion centre was being constructed in Eluru at a cost of Rs 45 lakh for the Thalassemia patients, who need blood. He said that this would be the first transfusion centre in the State to give blood to Thalassemia and haemophilia patients free of cost.  The centre was under construction at Government Hospital in Eluru, he informed.

He requested the philanthropists to donate liberally for the construction of the transfusion centre. District Red Cross Society chairman DR Maganti Prasad, secretary Tanneeru Prasad, DR Prasad and other participated in the programme.
