Vijayawada: Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao has said solar power system is a readymade solution for reducing pollution and global warming. He was the chief guest at the inauguration of the 36 KWP solar power system at Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM) here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said everyone should switch to clean and green energy through solar power system which was very essential for the future generation. Netcab MD Kamalakar Babu said it was essential to adopt solar power system else the next generation would suffer due to lack of raw material to generate power. He said that to generate one unit of current, it needs 700 grams of coal which produces a huge amount of carbon dioxide.

The carbon dioxide adds to pollution and the pollution creates health problems in living creatures. By adopting solar power system, it would produce clean and green electricity for the next 20 years. VMM secretary Rashmi said that with the help of HCL Foundation, a 36 KWP solar power system was installed which would benefit about Rs 43, 000 power bill per month.

She said the total cost of the project was Rs 22,36,500 out of which Rs 18,88,000 was borne by HCL Foundation and Rs 1,00,000 by VMM, she explained. Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Ram Mohan Rao, HCL Foundation representative Samuel Ebenezer, Narendra Raju, local corporate, VMM members and others participated.
