Women deserve respect for patience, hard work

Rajamahendravaram: SC/ST Commission Chairman Karem Sivaji has said that everyone should respect women and without them there is no society. Women are glaring example for patience and hard work who works more than men.

Participating in International Women’s Day celebrations conducted by Mother Teresa Millennium Youth at Anam Rotary Hall here on Thursday, he said that  women were competing with men in all fields and proving their mettle. In olden days, there were no voting right to women in USA and Britain and later the countries developed after giving voting right to women. 

Dr BR Ambedkar wrote a letter to British government in 1935 briefing about the importance of voting right to women and succeeded in it. There was a need to increase literacy among women. The government was putting in its efforts to get 33 percent reservations to women in Parliament, he added.

In some areas, women were becoming scapegoats and underscored the need to prevent it. APIIC former chairman Srighakollapu Sivarama Subramanyam exhorted the need of women participating in every aspect and it was the duty of everyone to respect the persons who strived for women development. Many women participated in the celebrations. Later, a few women who served the needy in society were honoured.
