Chain-snatcher held, Rs 10L worth property recovered
Ongole: The Kandukur police arrested a chain-snatcher and recovered 35 sovereigns of gold, two motorcycles worth Rs 10 lakh from the accused, announced the District Superintendent of Police, Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu on Friday.
The SP appreciated the Kandukur DSP, CI and other officers who participated in the investigation of the case and presented rewards to them. The SP said that Shaik Karimulla, a native of Gudur town in Nellore district and a diploma-holder in mechanical engineering was proficient in the computer languages like C, C++, Java and technologies like Auto Cad.
But due to the habituated luxurious life and need of money for bad habits, he started to snatch gold chains from women. He selects the area for his handiwork on Google Maps and gets information of all routes to and from the area before he starts on the bike for chain snatching.
On March 5, he snatched a chain from a woman in Kandukur and escaped on the bike No AP26 AJ8774. With the clue from a CC Camera in the locality, the police investigated the case and arrested Karimulla on NH5 on Thursday afternoon. In the inquiry, the police found that the accused used to get loans from Manappuram Finance company, by submitting the stolen chains as security.
The police recovered 9 golden chains, 2 black beads chains, 2 Pulsar motor bikes, one mobile total worth of Rs 10 lakh from him. They also found that the recovered chains were snatched in the limits of Kodavaluru, Buchireddy Palem, Kovuru, Kavali, Atmakuru and Kandukur.
