No road for Seregudem since Independence
Bhimavaram: The villagers of Seregudem of Garagaparru Panchayati in Palakoderu mandal are facing hardships due to lack of basic amenities like roads and drinking water. The 500 odd populated village have not seen a road since the Independence of the country. Even the village is part of the Garagaparru Panchayati that attracted national news six months back, no official or politician visited this village. The clay roads, scattered gravel are common in the village.
The villagers on Friday staged a protest by standing in the knee-deep water of Anakoderu canal which divides Garagaparru and their village. The villagers have only one footbridge, which allows two-wheelers to cross the canal. No medical facility is provided to the village as there was no route directly to it.
The villagers have to travel at least 15 kms towards Mahadevapatnam in Palakoderu mandal to reach PHC or any hospital during an emergency. Students cross the footbridge to reach the high schools which situated at two kms from the village. There was an elementary school in the village.
The villagers said that they have elaborated their tale of woes to Undi MLA VV Sivaramaraju several times and no action was initiated to solve their problems so far. They even conveyed their problems to the District Collector and other officials several times. The villagers Maddirala Ramesh, Medavarapu Prakash, Goda Pushpa, Medavarapu Esteru and others said that no official or public representative concentrated on their problems.
“The leaders visit the village during elections even they have no access. We requested those leaders who visited during election time to solve their problems. But the problems remain the same,” said Maddirala Ramesh. The villagers while protesting the attitude of the officials and leaders of their village demanded to solve the problems they were facing in the village.
