Phule remembered on birth anniversary
Ongole: The officials and public representatives in the Prakasam district remembered Govindarao Jyothirao Phule as the Father of Social Reforms in India.Collector Vadarevu Vinaychand asked the public to take inspiration from the Phule and follow his footsteps to work for the welfare of backward classes.
On Wednesday morning, the Collector, Vinaychand, former minister Manikyalarao, Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao, MLCs Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy and Pothula Suneetha, ZP vice-chairman Nukasani Balaji and others paid rich tributes to Phule by garlanding his statue at new vegetable market.
In the Phule’s 192nd birth anniversary celebrations at Rice Millers Association Hall, they garlanded the photograph. Suneetha said that the BCs were suppressed for a long time in the state but the formation of TDP helped them to voice their concerns.
It was the Chandrababu Naidu government that was working for the welfare of the BCs, she reiterated. Santanutalapadu MLA Adimulapu Suresh advised the BCs to fight for the rights and political, educational and financial opportunities as per the ratio of population.
The Collector, Vinaychand explained the greatness of Jyothiba Phule and said that he worked for welfare of backward classes as well as the education for women. Janardhana Rao announced that the government had allocated funds for the BC welfare building and Kapu welfare building and ready to expand the BC building, if it was not sufficient. The Collector and public representatives distributed assets and tools to beneficiaries under various schemes.
