Road Safety Week inaugurated
Guntur: District Collector Kona Sasidhar inaugurated 29th Road Safety Week at a programme held at Zilla Parishad office here on Monday.Speaking on this occasion, he urged the people to follow traffic rules to check road accidents and accidental deaths.
Guntur Zilla Parishad chairperson Shaik Janimun said that there was a need to follow traffic rules to reduce accidents and expressed serious concern over increasing accidental deaths. She emphasised the need to check high speed and rash driving. She requested the two-wheeler riders to wear helmet.
Later, the District Collector released 29th Road Safety Week posters which will be conducted till April 30. A traffic awareness meeting scheduled to be held on Tuesday followed by free eye testing for vehicle drivers on Wednesday. An awareness meet on need to wear helmet would be held on April 26 while LLR mela would be conducted on April 27. A meeting with the auto drivers would be held on April 28.
Joint Collector Imtiaz Ahmed, Deputy Transport Commissioner GC Raja Ratnam were among those participated.
