Mayor urges women to avail govt schemes

Rajamahendravaram: Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai has advised the members of women groups to avail the government schemes to strengthen their economic base. The government is implementing many schemes for women empowerment, she informed.

Participating in a meeting held at Sri Venkateswara Anam Kala Kendram here on Wednesday, she said Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was implementing many schemes for women, though the state was passing through financial crisis.

The government was giving a pension of Rs 1,000 under NTR Bharosa scheme along with other pensions, she said.Every woman should have their ration card and the women who had no ration card should apply now. First referral hospital was doing well and the pressure on government hospital was reduced because of this, she added.

Godavari Urban Development Authority (GUDA) chairman Ganni Krishna said the state was in a deficit of Rs 16,000 crore at the time of division of the state. But, Chandrababu Naidu was implementing many welfare and development schemes, he explained.Members of women groups should avail the schemes and elevate themselves in society along with improving their financial position, he added.

Additional Commissioner NVV Satyananarayana, Deputy Commissioner T Raj Gopal, corporators K Rama Krishna, MR Rao, PN Kumari and others were present.
