Summer camp for women at SMK

Vijayawada: Women and unemployed girls from different walks of life are being trained in different professions and sports at the summer camp organised by Entrepreneur Development Cell (EDC) of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala (SMK).

About 100 women, housewives and unemployed youth were undergoing training in tailoring, beautician course, sari rolling, mehendi and two-wheeler driving by professionals in their respective fields, said EDC in-charge Dr K Sudha Rani. She said that every year during summer they organise various courses which would improve skill in women and support them when needed.

Ch Saraswathi, housewife expressed her happiness for joining tailoring course in the summer camp. She said by learning tailoring it would be useful in future for her to take up as a profession. She said that instructor was imparting good skills in tailoring.
V Varalakshmi, tailoring instructor said that women can take up tailoring as a profession as women in Vijayawada like more fashionable clothing. She said by practicing the trainees can be perfect and become a good designer.

SMK physical trainer Ravi Knathini said that summer sports camp was organised for women on the college premises. She said basketball, Kho-kho, badminton, table tennis and gym were organised and more than 100 women were participating in the camp. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) coaches were also giving training at the summer coaching camp. She said that nominal fee was collected for registration from the participants, she added.
