21 jailed for drunken driving

Guntur: Court sentenced imprisonment for 21 accused in drunken driving against whom the police repeatedly booked drunken cases in the Guntur Rural Police District during the last one week.

According to police, they booked 431 cases against the drunken drivers. Out which the court sentenced imprisonment to 21 drunken drivers apart from penalty imposed on them.Similarly, the court imposed penalty on another 146 drunken drivers.

According to Guntur Rural District Superintendent of Police Ch Venkata Appala Naidu, taking road accidents into consideration, they were conducting drunken driving tests every day and booked cases against the drunken drivers.

Later, the police officials conducted counselling to the drunken drivers.He urged the people to follow the traffic rules and stop drunken driving. Taking their family future into consideration, he warned that they would take stern action against the drunken drivers.
