Officials urged to take steps to check spread of malaria

 Guntur: District Collector Kona Sasidhar directed the officials to conduct 'Domalapai Danda Yatra' programme every Saturday to check spread of viral fevers and communicable diseases. He addressed a meeting held at the Collectorate in Guntur city on Wednesday.

Speaking on this occasion, he urged the sanitation department staff to spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes in the drains regularly and take help of the Sadhikara Mitras to bring awareness among people. 

He said that there are 15000 Sadhikara Mitras, who will go to every house and explain steps to be taken to check viral fevers and need to keep surroundings clean and even suggest using of oil balls in the side drains to kill mosquitoes. 

Malaria cases are registered more in the urban areas than in the rural areas. He stressed on need to keep the vacant lands clean and issue notices to the vacant land owners to clean the vacant lands. He directed the officials to issue notices to the vacant land owners, if they do not clean the vacant lands and impose penalty.
 
He instructed the officials to clean all the schools and cooking rooms in the schools. He also said that 'Domalapai Danda Yatra' programme will continue in the coming 25 weeks. He asked the officials to concentrate on the slums in Guntur city and the municipalities all over the district.

 Directing the officials to take steps to check spread of malaria and dengue, he expressed serious concern over increasing of these cases.GMC commissioner Srikesh B Lathkar, DMHO Dr. Yasmin was among those participated.
