Take steps to reduce road accidents

 Guntur: District Collector Kona Sasidhar directed the officials to minimise road accidents by taking precautionary measures. He addressed the District-level road safety meeting held at the Collectorate here on Saturday.

Speaking on this occasion, he said that road accidents may fall ,comparing to last year.  He stressed on the need to reduce deaths in accidents. He instructed the officials to acquire land to build road from Perecherla to Kondamodu. He also directed the officials to speed up land acquisition process because more accidents are taking place on this stretch. 

He further said that vehicles passing on this road are going on high speed after the district became the state capital. He instructed the officials to take steps to reduce speed of vehicles and set up boards on highways to create awareness on mishaps. He directed the officials to take steps to close belt shops on highways. 

He also asked them to take up road works where underground drainage works were completed. He directed them to speed up underground drainage works and to expedite work on the roads of Guntur Medical College, Yetukuru and Ponnur.

Guntur urban SP Ch.Vijaya Rao, GMC Commissioner  Srikesh B Lathkar, R and B officials were among those participated.
