Police seize 222 bikes, book drink & drive cases
Tirupati: Without major untoward incidents, people in Tirupati have celebrated the night parties at hotels and restaurants and residential localities. In view of the new year celebrations, Tirupati city police have drafted the huge number of police to curb drunken driving. Tirupati city police have seized 222 bikes and scooters in the intervening night of December 31 and January 1.
On the eve of New Year, many denizens went to hotels and bars and restaurants. After the new year party celebrations, when they were returning homes by bikes and scooters police had checked the vehicles at various traffic junctions. Urban SP Abhishek Mohanthyand other police officials participated. Traffic police deployed the additional force to maintain the law and order in temple city.
Police have set up 16 check posts at Bus Stand, Railway station, University areas, 150ftBypass Road, on ReniguntaRaod and other places. Total 222 cases have booked against the traffic rules violators across Tirupati. Out of 222 cases 95 are booked under drunken driven cases. Remaining 127 cases relate to other violations.
SP Abhishek Mohanty, Traffic DSP Sukumari, CI Parthasarathy and DSP of West and East Sub-divisions participated in the checks. On Monday, many of the parents have come to police station for releasing the bikes.
