Spain Prof predicts a surge of growth in India
Visakhapatnam: GITAM Institute of Management (GIM) organised a guest lecture at KRC Auditorium in GITAM University here on Friday, in which Dr Carlos Mosalares Garcia, Dean, IQS School of Management, Barcelona, Spain, delivered a lecture on the business trends in the current wave of globalisation. He spoke about the third wave of globalisation.
The focus was on the effect of young population on globalisation and the shift of economic balance from the West to the East (Asia). Reeling out figures, Dr Garcia said that 25 per cent of the global population would be above 65 years by 2030. He said that there would be a surge in the growth of India and China in terms of GDP. There would be a growth of services over manufacturing, he added.
He also spoke about the entry of new players in the aviation industry. “There is scope for growth of urbanisation with respect to small cities and 60 per cent of urban population lives in such cities.
The emergence of bitcoin and its role in globalisation was also touched upon by Carlos Mosalares Garcia. Students were informed about the effect of Trump’s immigration policies with respect to H-1B Visas and their global effect.
He concluded the lecture with his opinion on the Catalan independence movement and its impact on Spain. Students of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and GIM Principal Prof P Sheela and Foreign Student Affairs Director KPC Kishan were present.
