Speaker lays stone for AIIMS admin block
Vijayawada: Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao and Minister for Health Dr Kamineni Srinivas on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a temporary administrative block of AIIMS and hostel building to be built at a cost of Rs 6 crore at Siddhartha Medical College in the city. The temporary building will be used till the construction of permanent building of AIIMS at Mangalagiri in Guntur district.
The two leaders also inaugurated a gym built at a cost of Rs 10 lakh at the same college with donations given by the alumni of the Siddhartha Medical College. Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said he was delighted to attend the alumni meeting in Vijayawada.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Dr Kamineni said that the Government General Hospital in Vijayawada was developed with Rs.90 crore in the last three years. He said efforts were on to allot 50 medical seats to the AIIMS at Mangalagiri.
He lauded the alumni of the Siddhartha Medical College for donating Rs 10 lakh liberally for the construction of the gym after being inspired by the Janmabhoomi programme.
Measures are being taken for the completion of the super-specialty block at the GGH at a cost of Rs.150 crore, he added. The Speaker and the Health Minister had a gala time with their former friends and classmates at the medical college.
