Villagers stage dharna demanding miscreants arrest
Dwaraka Tirumala: The villagers of G Kothapalli in Dwaraka Tirumala mandal resorted to road blockade with the body of a youth, who was murdered on Thursday, demanding the police arrest the culprits immediately.
It may be recalled that Ganta Venkat Rao was brutally murdered by miscreants at G Kothapalli village in Dwaraka Tirumala mandal on Thursday. The police and clues team reached the spot and conducted inquest. Body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased after conducting post-mortem at the Eluru Government Hospital.
Villagers took the body and placed it on the National Highway at G Kothapalli village demanding immediate arrest of the assailants. Due to personal rivalry, a person hailing from G Kothapalli village killed Venkat Rao, the victim's family members and SC leaders alleged. Following the road blockade, vehicular traffic was stranded for some time in the village on National Highway.
At one stage tension prevailed as the agitating villagers raised slogans. Eluru DSP K Eswara Rao reached the spot and discussed with the family members and SC leaders. The DSP assured that police will arrest the accused soon.
Mandal Parishad president V Prasad assured the family members that he will discuss with the government to sanction two acres of land to the bereaved family members and residential school admission to the children of the deceased.
Following the assurance, the villagers withdrew their agitation. SC leaders Sirra Bharat, Maddala Venkateswara Rao, Kasse Balakrishna and others held discussions with the DSP.
