Youth main casualty in road mishaps: DSP
Kurnool: Traffic DSP C M Gangaiah said India tops in road accident deaths compared to natural calamities.
Addressing an awareness programme conducted on road safety rules at LVTG College of Physiotherapy and Nursing on Saturday, the DSP said the deaths are taking place for not following road safety rules. To reduce road accident deaths, everyone must follow traffic rules, he added.
The DSP said most road accidents are taking place due to lack of awareness among youth. In road accidents, the youth are main casualty, he said adding “it is very unfortunate to see that the youngsters are falling prey with rash and rough driving”.
Reckless driving is another reason for occurring road accidents, he pointed out and advised the students to follow traffic rules and save themselves from becoming to road accident victims. He also suggested them to wear helmet and possessing of driving licence is also compulsory. On the occasion, a short film was screened on road accident deaths.
College principal Dr Srikanth Reddy, Jana Vignana Vedika president Yaganteswarappa, Traffic Circle Inspector Ismail, Sub Inspector Nallappa and students participated in the programme.
