Mosaic Adventure Commune unit involves people in trekking

Tirupati: A group of enthusiasts, to enjoy the nature, have been taking up trekking activity on Sundays in Tirupati and surrounding areas . Before dawn, they assemble at the given point to reach the destination with a backpack having a water bottle, biscuit packet and other necessities.  

Every week, they take up trekking at a new place and people from different walks of life participate. The sole objective behind this event is to connect future generations to nature. People ranging from 50 to 400 take part depending on the place of trek. 

There was a five-member organising team of Tirupati Trekkers, which is a part of Mosaic Adventure Commune (MAC). There were around 5000 members in the group but not everyone will participate every week. On this Sunday, a trek was organised to Mallemadugu project area which they call a ‘Sun rise trek’ and lasts for about three hours. They assembled at a point by 6 a.m. to reach the project area.

The members enjoyed the Sun rise during their trekking, reached dam area and returned by 9 a.m. The trekking activity was launched by two people, a senior journalist BV Ramana and B Balasubramanyam alias Trekking Balu with a motive of connecting Tirupati people to beautiful nature, says one of the organisers K Karthik Sai. 

“We find changing trend among children and ladies as they were turning out in good numbers. At the beginning no one used to come and only after they trust the organisers and fellow trekkers, there was a change in their attitude” he said.

or normal treks, organisers collect Rs.100 and provide bread, jam etc. The leftover money will be used for the tribals’ needs. Through MAC, apart from normal treks, they organise wild life safaris, Heritage trekking, one day trekking and the latest addition was night trekking. “Recently we organised a night trek in which 120 members have took part.

Named as ‘Night at Forest’, it was organised in Chandragiri forest area in the first week of this month”, Karthik said. Before that they organised a heritage trek to Reddivaripalli area where they unearthed an ancient Rajagopuram. After it came to light, the Archaelogist and CEO of the Cultural Center of Vijayawada and Amaravati Dr E Sivanagi Reddy had taken it up to develop, he said.
