Chandrababu Naidu is like Baroda Maharaj to Dalits: Jawahar
Amaravati: Minister for Excise K S Jawahar said that the State government would start ‘Dalita Tejam’ programme from January 26. The Minister said Telugu Desam Party leaders would visit every home of Dalits during the programme to explain welfare schemes for Dalits being implemented by the State government.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday, Jawahar said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was striving for the welfare of the Schedule Castes and the State government has been spending crores of rupees under various welfare schemes.
“I can strongly say that Dalits were given political importance only after the Telugu Desam Party was founded. Several Dalit leaders, including me are holding important posts in TDP government,” he said.
The Minister said Chandrababu Naidu was another ‘Baroda Maharaj’ to Dalits as the Maharaja of Baroda State helped Dr B R Ambedkar pursue his studies in abroad. “Chandrababu Naidu is helping Dalit students who want to go abroad for higher studies,” he said.
