Two women die in road mishap
Vijayawada: Two women farm workers were killed and seven others sustained injuries in a road accident occurred near Salempalem village in Koduru mandal in Krishna district on Thursday. A private school bus carrying school children had collided with a speeding auto-rickshaw coming in the opposite direction killing two women on the spot.
The deceased were identified as B Meramma (50) and K Dhanalakshmi (42), both belong to Salempalem village, Koduru police said. The drivers could not see the road due to thick fog engulfed the village.
The farm labourer were going to Ghantasala mandal to attend the agriculture works and met with the accident. The injured auto- rickshaw passengers were shifted to hospitals in Avanigadda, Machilipatnam and Vijayawada.
Police took the bus driver B Venkata Satyanarayana into custody for questioning. The auto driver, B Ravi, sustained head injuries and was shifted to the hospital. The bus belongs to a private school in Avanigadda and going to Salempalem village to pick up the children when the mishap took place at 8 am. The Koduru police registered a case and took up investigation.
