AP Tourism plans 10,000 luxury hotel rooms
Vijayawada: The AP Tourism Department is preparing plans to construct 10,000 star-rated hotel rooms under public-private partnership through its investor-friendly Tourism policy. The department envisages huge demand for hotel rooms in the state tourism circuit. Similarly, the officials of Tourism department have estimated that it would attract Rs 3,500 crore investments in various new projects.
The Tourism Ministry is happy over increasing tourists’ number and recent rank of third top state in the country in Tourism sector. According to officials, there are 8,500 hotel rooms in the state. The Tourism department has taken the decision to construct 10,000 new rooms. Already the department signed 145 agreements in this respect. The demand for hotels has increased due to arrival of foreign tourists.
As per one analysis, there is 71 per cent growth in the visits of foreign tourists. The pilgrimage town of Tirupati is in top place with 4.23 crore visitors while Anantapur also registered 2.09 lakh foreign tourists impressively.
The tourism sector has witnessed huge growth after introducing air connectivity with various other cities, the survey of Tourism department revealed. Actually, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam are in top position in the list of tourism centres. The districts of Rayalaseema are also getting prominence due to new projects and proposals put forward by Tourism department.
However, the tourism sector would witness new developments from the proposed Buddhist cultural celebrations at Amaravati from February 2.
Nearly, 1,000 monks would attend the event from various countries. The Tourism department has plans to set a new world record attracting a huge number of audience for the event.
Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya said that the government had introduced liberalised tourism policy to attract investments and take up various new projects. She said the government would achieve its goals with the support of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
