Girl who attempted suicide dies

Visakhapatnam: A girl died in a hospital after consuming pesticide in front of her beau’s house on Tuesday at Pandalapaaka in Anandapuram mandal. According to sources, Y Vara Lakshmi (23), who had completed SSC and R Narasinga Rao (27), who is working as a JCB driver, were in love for three years.

Last year, parents of the lovers had agreed to perform marriage, but Narasinga Rao’s parents demanded dowry and received Rs 1 lakh from Varalakshmi parents  On Tuesday, VaraLakshmi father went to Narasinga Rao’s house and questioned him for delay in  marriage, in a fit of rage Narasinga Rao’s relatives and parents attacked the victim’s father.

Therefore, she resorted to the extreme step as she had felt that her parents were being humiliated due to her marriage. She consumed pesticide in front of in front of Narasinga Rao’s house. On witnessing the incident, locals shifted her to a hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.
