2,600 cr allocated for Waltair division

Visakhapatnam: Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair division Mukul Saran Mathur said that the government allocated Rs 2,600 crore funds in the budget for various development works in the Waltair Division.  

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, the DRM explained about the allocations for Waltair Division in the budget. In the 2018-19, doubling of KK line, second line from Koraput to Singapur Road (KR line), Vizainagaram-Titlagarh third line and Vizianagaram bypass line at an estimated cost of Rs 1108.61 crore sanctioned in the budget. Rs 85 crore was allocated for taking up works of 96 bridges, including 32 in KK Line, Mathur said.

Rs 85 crore was allocated for signaling and telecommunication works. The government also allocated Rs 332 crore for track safety. For 2018-19, the division targeted 100-km rail renewal works. Under these works, electronic interlocking of Duvvada, replacement of worn out signalling gears, replacement of LED signal aspect and provision of LVCD and IBS axis counter would be taken up. 

Construction of two Road-over-Bridge (ROB) and eight Road- under-Bridge (RUV) works would be taken up with allocated budget of Rs 100 crore. These include provision of RUB/LHS in main line, Rayagada-Vizianagaram line and KK Line. Under traffic facilities, Rs 28 crore has been allocated which would be for loop extension, automation signalling Gopalapatnam-Duvvada and Goapalpatnam-Vizianagaram, intermediate block signals at Viziangaram-Singapur road and Vizianagaram-Palasa, development of circulating areas at nine stations, Pendurthi yard modification, standardisation of Jagayyapalem lines and Parlakhemundi crossing stations, the DRM said.

In the 2018-19 more focus would be given to the passenger amenities, development of Adarsh stations, including Marripalem and Pendurty. The DRM said that Rs 58 crore allocated to development of passenger amenities, platforms at Marripalem to be developed by increasing the height of the platforms, Mathur added.
