Mahakumbabhishekam at Durga temple on Feb 26

Vijayawada: Durga Temple Trust Board chairman Gouranga Babu said the board decided to perform Maha Kumbhabhishekam on February 26 on the occasion of reopening of Malleswara Swamy temple after renovation.

The board members participated in meeting here on Wednesday. Durga temple executive officer had an elaborate discussion on the agenda and decided to perform a three-day festival at Malleswara Swamy temple starting from February 24 and decided to give importance to the donors.

The special ticket of Rs 300 would be reduced to Rs 250. Places to perform Arjitha sevas has been changed. Poojas will be performed only at Raja Gopuram and steps have been taken to allow the devotees queue through Raja Gopuram.

A proposal of replacing lamps with LED bulbs was cancelled as it was against Agama Shastra.Temple executive officer M Padma, members Padmasekhar, Velagapudi Sankar Babu and others were present.
