Security for Mahasivaratri beefed up

Kurnool: The Srisailam temple is put under heavy security blanket with deployment of over 2,000 police personnel to prevent any untoward incidents in view of Mahasivaratri festival.

According to Kurnool Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetty, bomb disposal and access control teams, equipped with door-frame and hand-held metal detectors, deep search mine detectors and explosive vapour detectors have been made available to ensure fool-proof security.

All the wings of Srisailam Town police are involved in security arrangements while administration of the temple was sensitised on security to ensure smooth conduct of the festival.

Two additional SPs, 14 DSPs, 45 CIs, 116 SIs, 210 ASIs and head constables, 894 police constables, 409 home guards, 99 women police constables, 50 women home guards, 29 sections of AR platoons and 12 special party teams have been deployed for security.

The SP further said that additional forces were drafted from Anantapur and Kadapa districts. The cops also set up traffic diversions to conduct the festivities peacefully, he added and called upon the devotees to cooperate with the Police department to avoid untoward incidents.
