Police nab red sanders smuggler from Nepal

Tirupati: Tirupati urban police arrested one international red sanders smuggler Tashi Sherpa alias Mohammad Ishak belonging to Nepal  and another smuggler G Nazeer Ahmed of Bengaluru city in Karnataka two days ago.  

The police produced the two smugglers before the media here on Monday. According to Tirupati urban SP Abhishek Mohanty, Ramchandrapuram police nabbed these two smugglers and seized six red sanders logs weighing105 Kg and one car (Lancer) from their possession.  The SP said that Nazeer Ahmed was involved in 10 RS smuggling cases in Chittoor district.

Following information provided by the two red sanders smugglers, urban police special team headed by SI RC Puram raided RS godown in Mysore, Karnataka and seized 45 RS logs from the godown.

Speaking to The Hans India, SP Mohanty said that the police received information that RS smuggling was being carried out through Tuticorin port, Tamil Nadu and Kandla port, Gujarat. “We should work on this angle,” the SP said.
