Sangameswara Kalyanam performed
Atmakur: Kalyanotsavam of Lord Sangameswara was performed on Wednesday atop the Sangameswara temple gopuram as the sanctum-sanctorum of the temple was flooded with Krishna water.
The temple remained under water exposing its gopuram to light. The temple priest Telakapalli Raghurama Sarma performed Kalasapuja and other rituals amidst chanting of Vedic hymns of the scholars. The processional deities were kept on the temple gopuram and the rituals performed.
The ritual was performed as Mahasivaratri and Masasivaratri occurred in the auspicious Telugu month of Maghamasam before the new moon day. Two-day Sivaratri festival was celebrated after a long gap of over 51 years.
In connection with the Lalita and Sangameshwara Kalyanam, Srirudra, Chandi-Durga Homam was performed. A large number of devotees took part in the celebrations. Irrigation Chief Engineer CE Narayana Reddy took part in special pujas.
