Govt to set up 10 waste to energy plants in state
Guntur: Municipal administration minister P Narayana said the State government will call tenders for establishing 10 waste to energy plants soon.
Inspecting the waste to energy plant to be set up by Zindal in Guntur city on Monday, Narayana said Zindal company will import some parts from foreign countries to set up the plants in Vizag, Tirupati and Guntur cities. He added that setting up of plants would be likely to be delayed due to technical reasons.
As soon as spare parts come, the company will take steps to start the plants, he said and added the government will set up the plants in 110 municipalities in a phased manner to solve garbage problem.
He said at present 7,000 tonnes garbage generated in municipalities in the state. He said there was need to recycle the garbage and said each waste to energy plant will consume garbage generated in the 50 kms purview.GMC in-charge commissioner K Ramachandra Reddy was present.
