6 crore for road safety programme
Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector B Lakshmikantham here on Friday reviewed the plans of road safety in the district. He said that cases were booked against 2,95,253 people for driving without wearing helmet.
He also said that 4,234 cases were booked against them who violated the rules of transport department.The Collector expressed satisfaction over fall in number of road accidents.
He further stated that the government allocated Rs 6 crore for creating awareness among people on traffic guidelines. As many as 150 She Autos would be given to the SC, BC, Kapu and minority women in the district.
The government would conduct a three-day workshop from February 26 on traffic management. Joint Police Commissioner Kranti Rana Tata, Joint Collector Vijay Krishnan, Municipal Commissioner J Nivas and several officials were also present.
