Kurnool: Hailing from middle class family, a youngster has brought laurels to the district. When youngsters are more interested in sports like cricket and football, K Sudheer Kumar has shown inclination towards bodybuilding.

Recently, he had won a silver medal at the Indian Federation of Body Builders Competition held at Ludhiana in Punjab state on February 10. But, no district official or political leader has recognised his efforts and congratulated him. The 23-year-old body builder is native of Balapanur village in Panyam mandal of Kurnool district.

His father is working as a mechanic in APSRTC at Yemmiganur depot in Kurnool district. His mother Ramsubbamma is a house wife. Presently, Sudheer is working as a gym trainer at Rajeev Gandhi Memorial (RGM) Engineering College in Nandyal.

Sudheer was declared as the 1st runner up of the men's bodybuilding (up to 70 kg) held at Indian Federation of Body Building (IFBB) on February 10, 2018 at Ludhiana in Punjab. It is the biggest platform for all the amateur athletes in India to turn into professionals. Athletes from all across the globe would be able to compete in Ludhiana to win the PRO card. This event was open for all athletes from all the federations.

It is an event that helps support the amateur athletes to showcase their talent and move forward in the ladder of health and fitness industry as professionals. Speaking to The Hans India, Sudheer said that if any corporate firm or state government extends financial support to them then he can bring laurels to the country.

Asked about his muscle wealth, Sudheer said that he needs one kilogram of chicken, 20 boiled eggs, 3 kilos of vegetables and leafy vegetables per day. During the off season, he can go with the normal food.

In 2017, Sudheer has won Mr Andhra Pradesh title and he had got at least 15 fifteen medals including ten state-level gold medals. His main aim is to get Mr Olympia, Sudheer hoped. Despite of poor financial background, Sudheer did not gave up his hope and was aiming his target.

He has not got even a single penny as financial support from any officials or politicians on behalf of government though he has brought laurels to the district. Most of the bodybuilders are from middle class families having financial constraints.

Due to this, they are not able to take much care of the mandatory diet, Sudheer Kumar said. Even though, the budding body builder is facing severe hardships, he is still managing to compete in national events without any support from the authorities.

Strong sponsorship is all what a player needs to get a boost for performing at the international-level, he opined. Sudheer has proved that one can achieve his life goals with determination.
