Construction of flats picks up pace

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is dreaming and drawing plans not only to construct capital city with required facilities to cater to the needs of next 50 years but also provide residential accommodation for legislators.

The current strength of MLAs and MLCs put together in the State is 233. The Centre is being urged to increase the number of legislative constituencies in the State.  To cater to the future requirements, the government has decided to provide residential space for another 55 members additionally.

The State government started construction work near Lingayapalem in Amaravati capital region almost two months ago. As per the plan, total 288 flats are being constructed in the 12 towers complex.

Each flat space is designed for 3,500 sq ft and there would be only two flats on every floor. The government has taken up the residential buildings complex for legislators prestigiously. Nearly Rs 700 crore is the estimated cost and total works are expected to be completed by February 12, 2019.

Spacious flats are being constructed for the MLAs and the MLCs. Separate designs are made for construction of meeting halls to be used for office and personal purposes. Each flat will have four bedrooms and it will be provided with corridors. The total constructed area planned is 14,45,095 sq feet.

Nagarjuna Construction Company has been allotted the work and it has started works to complete the project before the deadline. Presently 26 rigs are working at the site and 45 civil engineers are supervising the construction work. 

Nearly 2,000 labourers would be deployed at the project site soon to complete the work as per schedule, said company site engineer. Speaking to The Hans India, he said,” The company is taking all precautions in the construction especially on quality aspect. Several foreign engineers and experts are also supervising the construction work including quality control.”
