Health programme to cover 20 schools

Vijayawada: Dr Reddy's Foundation along with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan jointly conducted School Improvement programme at Kallam Venkat Reddy School at Tadepalli in Vijayawada on Monday. 

The programme was inaugurated by Anuradha Prasad and Samrajyam Anji Reddy, Managing Trustees of Dr Reddy’s Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, Anuradha said that she was happy to inaugurate the programme at their native village Tadepalli and said 20 schools each in Krishna and Guntur districts would be covered under the programme.

As part of School Improvement programme, the School Health programme would be taken up to boost the physical, emotional and intellectual health of children by offering them early diagnosis, intervention and counselling.  

She said the School Health programme was taken towards making quality healthcare accessible to every child and bring a positive impact in the schools in the long run.  She said the programme would be extended to 100 more government schools across the state in a phased manner.

Earlier, Samrajyam Anji Reddy inaugurated the water purifying plant and flagged off the mobile science lab which was donated to Kallam Venkat Reddy School.

A mobile health van worth Rs 15 lakh was also handed over to the school and the van will cover all the schools. A health camp was organised in which about 400 students were checked.

Dr Reddy Laboratories industrial relations and corporate affairs vice-president Dr V Narayana Reddy and several prominent local leaders were present.
