Textile Park in Nellore dist planned
= Estimated cost is Rs 526 crore
= The state government has allocated 60 acres of land
Nellore: In view of huge textile business, a Textile Park with an estimated cost of Rs 526 crore, is coming up at Ulavapalla village in Nellore district. Besides, a domestic airport in Dagadarthi mandal is also planned.
Local traders have been demanding for setting up of a textile park in the region as there is huge potential for whole sale and retail textile trade.
Some time ago, Kavali was selected for the project. Traders of about 400 shops in the small town faced problems for accommodation and expansion of their units.
Even people from other parts of Nellore, Prakasam, and Chittoor visit the place for wholesale purchases.
People purchase garments in Kavali for marriages and festive occasions because of reasonable prices.
“Though many private buildings are coming up in the town, they are not comfortable for a wholesale market and also for manufacture of garments. The new textile park at Ulavapall would give scope for both manufacturing and sales,” said P Srinivasulu, a trader from Annapoorna Cloth Market. There are 3 wholesale markets and still people go for other places. These traders get supplies from Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Erode, Coimbatore, and Rajasthan.
They have tie up with making units spread across the country and sell at nominal margin due to heavy competition.
The state government gave its nod for Rs. 526 crore Park spread over 60 acres at Ulavapalla in Dagadarthi mandal which is located around 30 km away from both Nellore and Kavali towns.
Officials from the Commercial Taxes department say that the business may go up between Rs. 700 crore to Rs 800 crore every year in the region which would be an advantage for the proposed park.
Some making units were also started earlier in the town by local BJP leader K Satyanarayana and there are proposals for many such garment units in the region because of growing demand.
Traders from Nellore and Kavali met the Agriculture Minister S Chandramohan Reddy on Sunday and expressed their cheers over sanctioning the Park.
