Education gives confidence to women: Judge
Visakhapatnam: International Women’s Day was celebrated in a befitting manner on Thursday at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL). Chairperson of IWD-2018 celebrations and Scientist ‘F’ S Sudha Rani explained about the day its genesis and growth.
Additional District Judge Sai Rama Devi spoke on the strengths of women and their achievements with examples. She felt that education gives self-confidence to women.
Hence, she appealed to girls to study and stand on their own feet. Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax Saumya Pandey Jain said that in each organisation, a safe and secure environment must be created for working women. She further stated that women play a vital role in family and society.
Outstanding Scientist and Director NSTL OR Nandagopan explained how Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) encourages women employees by providing opportunities in enhancing their careers.
On the occasion, a book on achievements of women scientists at NSTL was released. Later, the chief guest distributed prizes to the winners of essay writing, elocution, rangoli and songs competitions.
