Rajamahendravaram: Former Amalapuram MP G V Harsha Kumar alleged that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is not giving proper place to Dalit leaders in the party and insulting them at every level.

The name of senior TDP leader Varla Ramaiah figured in the list of nominees selected by the party for Raja Sabha seats but in the last minute his name was changed by the party high command and it provided an opportunity to another person.

Speaking to reporters at his college here on Monday, Harsha Kumar said the incident is a glaring example of TDP high command's step-motherly attitude towards Dalit leaders.  Harsha Kumar asked about the percentage of people belonging to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s community in the State and how many members of his community were enjoying Minister’s posts.

The suppression of Dalits cannot be stopped until they come to power which is the need of the hour, he said. In many instances, the TDP high command is showing step-motherly attitude towards Dalit leaders, he pointed out.

Harsha Kumar appealed to the High Court to hear his petition filed relating to the problems of Intermediate students an year ago. He pointed out that the State government is yet to file its counter in the case.  As the corporate colleges are starting admissions for the new academic year, it is the right time for the High Court to issue directions in this regard.

He said the corporate colleges were looting the students and parents were forced to mortgage their properties to get their children admitted to the corporate colleges for Intermediate course. He pointed out that there was a vast difference in Intermediate fee collected by government and corporate colleges.
