Workshop held on e-waste management

Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), Kurnool has conducted a workshop on “E-Waste Management Rules, 2016” on Tuesday at the TG Venkatesh District Chamber Bhavan.

The objective of the workshop is to help to the stakeholders in knowing about electronic waste and its hazardous, and also to know how to meet the compliance mechanism of the E-Waste Management Rules, 2016.

The workshop was inaugurated by APPCB Joint Chief Environmental Engineer T Rajendra Reddy, Ripunjay Singh, Scientist D, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), an Expert on the e-waste rules attended the workshop. 

He explained in detail the different types of e-waste, adverse impacts of electronic waste on the environment, management of the e-waste and enlightened the responsibilities of the various stakeholders like producers, bulk consumers etc., as per the e-waste management of rules.

KSA Krishna, SEE, APPCB, Zonal Office; A Janardhana Rao, SEE, APPCB, Zonal Office; Dr P Prasada Rao, EE, APPCB, Regional Office; Y Atchuta Ramayya, SES (FAC), APPCB, Zonal Laboratory and other officials of the APPCB attend the workshop. About 100 members representing municipalities, electronic item dealers, hospitals, industries, bankers etc were present.
